5 sites assessed for ICT readinessDIGITISATION · 2025
24 subjects digitised across Grades 7–10FODE serves 100,000 learners across Papua New Guinea through over 22 provincial centres. The team wanted to make course materials easier to access, reduce reliance on printing and freight, and give teachers a clearer view of learner progress.
THE PROJECT
2022–2023
Reelae deployed its LMS, digitised the Science course, and supported 50 learners and seven FODE teachers and administrators from the NCD and Central cohorts.
2023–2024
The project team audited five sites for connectivity, power, devices and data protection. Each site received a plan to address gaps before wider rollout.
2023–2025
Six subjects per grade became structured digital modules with interactive chapters, auto-marked quizzes, and assignments learners could save and resume.
The Science pilot removed printing and freight costs for that subject. Auto-marked quizzes reduced manual marking and gave teachers a way to track progress. The digitisation work created a reusable curriculum library for online and blended learning.
JUNE 2026
After a four-day Training of Trainers program on Reelae LMS and Microsoft 365, more than 2,000 Reelae LMS licences were issued to FODE for Grade 7 and Grade 9 learners across Papua New Guinea. This was the first batch of the rollout.
The training prepared FODE staff to support teachers at provincial centres as they began using the platform.
FODE led implementation with Reelae and SNS Tech Limited as delivery partners. NICTA’s Universal Access Scheme funded the curriculum digitisation phase.
